Our guide to the awards you and your book could win

Awards can be a brilliant way to not only celebrate the success of your book with the people who have helped make it happen, but also give added credibility to set yourself apart from all the other authors, experts and thought-leaders in your field – as well as often giving a nice additional boost of publicity.

When it comes to book awards there are lots of options worth considering. Each one has different entry criteria, entry dates and book categories they cover, so take a look at our list below to see where your book might find success:

  • The Business Book Awards: These awards have quickly established themselves as one of the UK’s leading and most prestigious book awards. They promote and celebrate authors of books across a broad range of categories, including leadership, entrepreneurship, inclusion, sustainability, wellness, work and more. The awards champion diversity in business books and are open to both traditionally published and self-published books.

  • Axiom Book Awards: Celebrating the best business books published in the United States of America each year, the Axiom Book Awards cover a wide range of categories, with gold, silver and bronze medals in each.

  • FT Business Book of the Year: Established in 2005, this prestigious annual award recognises the best business book published in the UK each year. The winner receives a £30,000 prize, with £10,000 awarded to each of the shortlisted authors. The 2024 winner was 'Supremacy' by Parmy Olson.

  • Nautilus Book Awards: The core mission of this awards is to celebrate books that support conscious living and green values, wellness, social change, social justice and spiritual growth – or “Better Books for a Better World.”

  • Non-Obvious Book Awards: Unlike many other book awards, these awards are free to enter. Books are not entered into predefined categories – judges first select a Longlist of our favourite books, which is then narrowed down into a Shortlist of the 15 top books of the year, before a winner is picked based on five themes – importance, originality, readability, usefulness, and shareability.

  • Goody Business Book Awards: These awards are focused on social impact books in 50 categories across 8 genres, including business, entrepreneurship, leadership, self-help and more.

  • Porchlight Business Book Awards: Established in 2018, The Porchlight Book Awards focus on exceptional books that contribute to the world of business, leadership, personal development, and entrepreneurship. Porchlight's staff, editors, and readers nominate books across different categories, and a panel of judges selects the winners.

  • CMI Management Publication of the Year: These annual awards from the Chartered Management Institute recognise outstanding books and other types of publications in the field of management and leadership. These awards aim to celebrate management literature that helps professionals develop their leadership skills, improve business practices and enhance performance, with winners selected by a panel of industry experts, academics and professionals from the management field.

  • The Selfies Book Awards: This annual event celebrates the best books and authors in the self-publishing world across various genres. The awards aim to provide a platform for independent authors who may not have the backing of traditional publishing houses but whose books still make a big impact.

  • The British Book Awards (The Nibbies): Often referred to as The Nibbies, these awards honour the best books published in the UK across various categories, including non-fiction. The winner receives a trophy and national recognition.

  • The Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction: One of the longest established book awards, founded in 1999, this annual award recognises the best non-fiction writing published in the UK across current affairs, history, politics, science, sport, travel, biography, autobiography and the arts. It is also one of the biggest financial prizes in book awards, with the winner receiving £50,000.

  • The Indie Book Awards: Another set of awards designed to recognise and celebrate the best self-published books from independent authors across various genres. The categories for the Indie Book Awards can vary each year, but they often include non-fiction categories for the best memoirs, self-development books, business books and more.

  • Best In Business Book Awards: These awards are organised by the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW) to recognise the best business books published in the United States of America each year. There are categories for ‘Careers and Financial Development’ and ‘Management and Leadership’ books.
