It was an absolute privilege to work with Dr Liz O' Riordan on the publicity campaign to promote her debut book Under the Knife: Life Lessons from the Operating Theatre. When we were hired by publisher Unbound we could see Under the Knife was going to be an interesting book but we had no idea we were about the work with such an awe inspiring woman - the breast cancer surgeon who had breast cancer. Liz had great energy and enthusiasms for the PR campaign which made her a joy to work with and a media favourite giving her the platform to share her incredible story. Liz received a fantastic amount of press interest resulting in a wide range of coverage across the media including hitting all the National newspapers and sitting on the prestigious TV breakfast sofa with Lorraine Kelly. After her publisher campaign ended we were thrilled Liz extended working with us to maximise on the publicity opportunities for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October.

Under the Knife: Life Lessons from the Operating Theatre
by Dr Liz O'Riordan
Dr Liz O’Riordan is a breast cancer surgeon who has battled against social, physical and mental challenges to practise at the top of her field. Under the Knife charts Liz’s incredible highs: performing like a couture dressmaker as she moulded and reshaped women’s breasts, while saving their lives; to the heartbreaking lows of telling ten women a day that they had cancer.
But this memoir is more than just an eye-opening look at the realities of training to be a female surgeon in a man’s world. In addition to this high powered, high-pressured role, Liz faced her own breast cancer diagnosis, severe depression and suicidal thoughts, in tandem with commonplace sexual harassment and bullying. And by revealing how she coped when her life crashed around her, she demonstrates there is always hope.
With extraordinary candour, Liz O'Riordan reveals her story from being flashed at the supermarket by a patient delighted with her surgery, to how triathlons helped get her through depression and her cancer diagnoses. Liz is a well-known author, podcaster and her educational videos have helped her gather more than 55k followers on Twitter, and 25k followers on Instagram.
